Jeremy Rollando is a musician and artist from the Toulouse region who, despite having released only two solo albums so far, brings solid and well-rounded musical experience to the table. He comes from a musical family and is the son of percussionist Pascal Rolland.
His songwriting and performance work spans several different stylistic directions, and his releases can largely be seen as more complex, thoughtfully crafted pieces.
He released his debut album in 2023, titled “La Montgolfière,” where he showcased his rich songwriting talent. His current release is filled with flamenco and Latin influences, moving thoughtfully within those expressive frameworks. At the same time, the complexity of the arrangements and the musicianship of the performers on the album expand his sound into other territories as well, including jazz and world music.
When Jeremy composes, shaping tones and melodies, everything feels like it’s exactly where it should be. As you listen through the eleven tracks on this release, you also get the sense that subtle traces of melancholy and introspective sadness run throughout the music. But that too, reflects the artist’s personality and his creative sensibility.
It seems Jeremy has achieved what he set out to do, even if parts of the album may come across as deeply personal. perhaps even a bit too personal at times. but that was clearly a deliberate choice. “Zef” is a release that deserves multiple listens in order to fully step into and understand the world of Jeremy Rollando.
