La Cumbia Chicharra are an established band based in France, with Chilean musicians making up part of the lineup. Throughout their career, their expressive approach to music has been widely and warmly received, and there’s no doubt the same will hold true for their latest release, which came out at the end of 2025.
At the core of the band’s sound is an energetic fusion of Latin and Afro elements, infused with subtle dub traces, Afro-inspired grooves, and touches of world music. Their overall vibe naturally pushes you to move, dance, and react, while the richness and color of the arrangements make their music accessible even to listeners who might not usually gravitate toward this style.
The album features nine tracks, eight originals and one cover, and the material comes across as a cohesive whole, that flows effortlessly from start to finish. Many of the associations their music evokes point toward the legacy of Colombian and Cuban traditions, yet the diversity of ideas clearly shows that the band has shaped an authentic concept through a variety of musical forms.
“Quinto Mundo” is a highly enjoyable release that confirms the group’s strong songwriting and performance standards.
La Cumbia Chicara su etabliran sastav, stacioniran u Francuskoj, čiju postavu čine i Čileanski muzičari. Njihov eksperesivan pristup muzici tokom perioda egzistiranja nailazio je na relevantno prihvatanje, a nema sumnje da će takav slučaj biti i sa aktuelnim ostvarenjem, objavljenim krajem 2025-e godine. U osnovi pristupa grupe krije se jedna energična postavka kombinacije latin/afro elemenata, u kojima egzistiraju i prikriveni dub tragovi, Afro iskoraci, kao i World music tendencije. Sam sound kojeg sastav distribuira tera na pokret, ples, reakciju, a bogatsvo i koloritnost aranžmana doprinose da sam muzički pristup bude prihvatljiv i onim konzumentima kojima ovakav izvođački stil i nije toliko familijaran. Na albumu se našlo 9 kompozicija, 8 originalnih i jedan cover, a sam materijal deluje kao koherentna celina koja se sluša u jednom dahu. Puno asocijacija koje sastav proizvodi vode i do nasleđa Kolumbijske i Kubanske muzike, iako generalno šarenolikost ideja jasno stavljaju do znanja da su kroz više različitih formi, članovi postave izgradili autentičan koncept. „Quinto Mundo“ je vrlo slušljivo izdanje koje potvrđuje visoke autorske i izvođačke standarde aktera.
