World music- ROMANIA
Balkan Taksim is one of the most inspiring newer acts under the world music sky, which blends traditional Balkan music with several other idioms. The group is fronted by key leader and composer Sasa Liviu-Stojanovici, and the band uses traditional Balkan instruments in their performances.
Balkan folklore is the most inspiring motive in its songs and music, and they sang compositions in Romanian and Serbo-Croatian. Serbo-Croatian terms they use in their explanations. Maybe, judging by the presented songs and themes, as same as lyrics, we would say that this is Serbian language, but we can hear many motives from our area, and many known folkloric details taken from the group’s repertoire.
„Acide Balkanique“ is their second album with 8 tracks, where originally and authentically the band members combine elements of Balkan folk music in I would say hypnotic way, where exist enough space for kraut rock and psychedelic traces as well. The composition sounds very confident and well-rehearsed, and such a combination of vocal styles, blending traditional acoustic instruments with electric ones, is quite exciting and ultimately certainly convincing.
„Acide balkanique“ is a recommended product, worth every minute of your attention.
