Dead Bees In Bourbon is a German band that released an EP before their current debut full-length album. „Crystals“ is the name of the album, which features 11 songs, and the band consists of members with previous experience. They have a female singer in the lineup, and their songs represent a combination of several genre idioms.
Their sound is quite musically rich, enhanced with various soundscapes settings. Expressively, they rely on the post-new wave postulates with strong influences stemming from the 1980s, and there are also hidden post-punk details, more visible gothic elements, as well as, in a reduced form, indie/alternative rock details. Electronic dimension also represents an essential „imprint“ visible through the arranged poems, and practically all the material is composed of a combination of all these genre forms, from the ones briefly mentioned earlier. Vocal atmospheric quality characterizes a larger number of songs, and it is noticeable that the band members put considerable effort into making the arrangements sound more colorful and as interesting as possible.
„Crystals“ as an album reveals the potential of the group, which should be significantly developed in their subsequent releases.
