(Dackelton Records/LOUDHER PR) 2025.
CD/LP/Digital
Various genres – GERMANY/KOREA
„Where It Bleeds“ is a very surprising album by the duo MINOH, consisting of singer and bassist Guido, and Jamin, who was responsible for guitar, synth, and backing vocals. They are a Korean-German duo with extensive and long-standing previous experience, and the album that is before us was prepared after the realization of several demo recordings, singles, for almost 7 years.
Minoh is an energetic duo whose music represents a lively and modern variant of various genre forms, primarily derived from the new wave period. Their music features elements of electronic variants, post-punk idioms, German no wave tracks, influences from the British school of new wave, and much more in between. Of the 9 tracks from the album, the entire material is their original work, except for the song ‘Painful Raider’, which was written by the band SNFU.
Their songs are exciting, energetic, and I would add that in terms of energy, they remind me of the early British new wave and post-punk bands, but the technical details, as well as the production, assure us that they understand the time in which they work and create their own expression. Minoh is clear in their views, the arrangements of the songs are challenging enough to make you want to hear their music a few more times, and all in all, they have produced an album that, although under strong influences of the mentioned new wave tendencies, is sufficiently convincing.
