Born in Buffalo NY in 1983. tenor saxophonist James Brandon Lewis is a long time composer, recording artist, educator. With actual one, he has released till now 6 albums : “Moments” (2010.), “Divine Travels (2014.), “Days Of Freeman” (2015.), “No Filter” (2016/2017.), “Radiant Imprints” (2017.)

“An UnRuly Manifesto” he has recording with following musicians:

Jaimie Branch – trumpet,
Luke Stewart – bass,
Anthony Pirog – guitar,
Warren Trae Crudup III – drums,

and complete album is in some way a dedication to legacy of Charlie Haden & Ornette Coleman and Surrealism.

With 9 instrumental tracks/pieces, James with his colleagues explore eternal field of free jazz variants, avantgarde views, and fusion elements as well. Members from his band are skillful instrumentalists, and one strong expression feelings distribute themes, presented here and there. Different arrangements followed up material from the album, but “razor” energy of each member cleverly lead themes/pieces from first to last tact.

“An UnRuly Manifesto” deserve your attention from every aspect, and this is without any possible dilema a “dangerous”album.
