Guelle Bagot & Juan Manuel Nieto are a female-male duo with considerable musical experience, respectable education, and an interest in various spheres of artistic expression.
After all, their current album „Jardin d’ailleurs“ is a prime example of how various solutions are used to find approaches that are authentic and contain multiple conceptual and expressive elements. Their creative process is based on improvisation and oral tradition, where elements of different musical styles intertwine from song to song, and are also found in the arrangement solutions of the set themes themselves. Frequent changes in rhythm, vocal transformations, as well as genre shifts from folk tendencies to World music transformations are constantly present on their album. Similarly, certain pastiches of past decades, particularly the 1950s and 1960s, elegantly merge through sound into contemporary sonic elements, which can be quite unusual and no less unexpected.
Gaelle Bagot & Juan Manuel Nieto, together with the collaborators who participated in the release, demonstrate several different ways to reach a goal, and in their case, the goal is the challenge itself and confronting wide expressive spaces, where creativity is the main guiding idea.
