At this year’s extremely interesting Belgrade „Mačkin Spectrum Week,“ I had the chance to meet Filip Stojiljković, aka Filip Stounn, an extremely active personality in the underground community, a person who, besides being involved in photography works, his solo career, and playing music in his Eva Ras band, has also created on his Instagram page an unofficial but very extensive encyclopedia of the EX-Yu powerviolence scene. A multitude of bands and figures are included, so I recommend checking it out. Filip gifted me a few releases on this occasion, among them the album by the German band with an ordinary name but a not-so-ordinary musical approach, Older Friends.
Older Friends started as a duo, but later on added another person Bianca, on voice and bass. Active other members are Bolco and David . So, the band in its trio formation, before the realization of full-length, recorded a several singles and EP’s. Older Friends vocally express their musical activism in their native German language, where constant emo/screamo emphasis they oppose each other with frequent sound and rhythmic dissonant transitions, where the classical arrangement is disproportionate to the verbally expressed attitudes and dysfunctional musicianship. And mentioned atmosphere is present in all of 10 tracks from the album. On some segments their music sounds as an organized whole, and on the other creative chaos is dominate factor. Anyway, the Germans has offered their specific cup of torture, so if you close to accept that sort of message, check the music of this trio.
Na ovogodišnjoj izuzetno zanimljivoj beogradskoj „Mačkin Spectrum Week“ manifestaciji i festivalu, imao sam priliku da upoznam Filipa Stojiljkovića, poznatog i kao Filip Stounn, izuzetno aktivnu ličnost u underground zajednici, osobu koja, pored toga što se bavi fotografijom, svojom solo karijerom i sviranjem u bendu Eva Ras, na svom Instagram profilu je takođe kreirao neoficijalnu ali veoma obimnu enciklopediju EX-Yu powerviolence scene. Uključeno je mnoštvo bendova i ličnosti, tako da preporučujem da je proverite. Filip mi je tom prilikom poklonio nekoliko izdanja, među njima i album nemačkog benda sa običnim imenom, ali ne baš običnim muzičkim pristupom, Older Friends.
Older Friends su krenuli kao duo, ali kasnije su dodali još jednu osobu, Biancu na vokalu i basu. Aktivni ostali članovi su Bolco i David. Dakle, bend kao trio, pre realizacije full-length albuma, snimio je nekolio singlova i EP-a. Older Friends vokalno iskazuju muzički aktivizam na svom maternjem nemačkom jeziku, gde se konstantni emo/screamo naglasak, suprotstavlja često zvučno-ritmičkoj disonantnoj tranzicji, u kojoj je klasični aranžman neproporcialan verbalno iskazanim stavovima i disfunkcionalnom muzičkom umeću. I pomenuta atmosfera je prisutna kroz svih 10 numera na albumu. U nekim segmentima njihova muzika zvuči kao organizovana celina, dok u drugim dominira kreativni haos. Sve u svemu, Nemci su ponudili svoju specifičnu „dozu mučenja“, pa ako ste bliski prihvatanju takve poruke, obavezno „proverite“ i saslušajte muziku ovog tria.
