The band The Fortunate Few came together in an unusual way during a 4-song session, and over time this led to the realization of an album about putting the line-up together. But the group of seasoned musicians that make up this band has already released 2 albums in a short period of time. The first one, „Saints And Sinners,“ came out in January 2026, and recently the second, current album „Isn’t That So,“ was released.
Extremely experienced and seasoned musicians, many of whom are very well-known in the world of rock culture, created a nucleus of people with similar interests. And that interest is focused on blues, soul, Americana, and songs they love and that represent traces of history, which is unavoidable, and in their own way, they turned to reasserting and putting their own stamp on the songs that have grown close to their hearts over the years. Numerous blues, soul, and rock artists wrote songs that ended up on this release, and drummer Romek Parol explained in press materials who and how influenced the placement of the songs on the album and how they listened to and accepted those songs. In general, this band somehow developed its own expression, and of course, a lot was contributed by their immense experience, so the well-known material got a different pastiche and different versions when performed by this group, where I must admit some are very close to the original versions, but for the majority, they were given as much of an authentic stamp as possible. Otherwise, my personal favorite is the song „Work To Do“ by the Isley Brothers, which inspired the band in the way Average White Band performed the song. Very good production, sophisticated but smartly arranged arrangements, all contributing to an absolutely positive picture of the work of the group seen here. The album is, in any case, let me repeat, made by extremely experienced musicians, for whom, no matter how much they were focused here on other people’s songs, there are few secrets in this kind of work, that they aren’t familiar with.
Sastav The Fortunate Few nastao je na neobičan način tokom sessiona 4 pesme, da bi se vremenom došlo i do realizacije albuma i sastavljanja postave. Ali ekipa prekaljenih muzičara koji čine ovaj sastav tokom kratkog vremenskog perioda već je objavila 2 albuma. Prvi „Saints And Sinners“ pojavio se tokom januara meseca 2026-e, a nedavno je izašao drugi aktuelni „Isn’t That So“. Izuzetno iskusni i prekaljeni muzičari, većim brojem i vrlo poznati u svetu rock kulture, kreirali su nukleus od osoba koje su na sličnoj liniji intersovanja. A to i takvo intersovanje okrenuto je bluesu, soulu, Americani, i pesmama koje vole i koje predstavljaju trag istorije, koja je nezaobilazna, a oni su na svoj način se okrenuli reafirmaciji i davanju svog pečata pesmama koje su im prirasle tokom godina srcu. Brojni blues, soul, rock autori su kreirali pesme koje su se našle na ovom izdanju, a bubnjar Romek Parol je kroz press materijal pojasnio ko je i kako uticao da se pesme sa albuma nađu tu gde i jesu, i na koji način su oni slušali i prihvatali te pesme. Generalno, ovaj sastav nekako je razvio svoj izraz, mnogo je svakako doprinelo i ogromno iskustvo, tako da poznati materijal je dobio u izvođenju ove grupe drugačiji pastiche i drugačije verzije, gde moram priznati neke su vrlo bliske originalnim verzijama, ali je većem broju dat koliko je to moguće više autohton pečat. Inače moj lični favorit je song „Work To Do“, Isley Brothersa, koja je inspirisala sastav načinom na kojeg je ovu pesmu izvodio Awarage White Band.
Vrlo dobra produkcija, sofisticirani ali pametno postavljeni aranžmani, doprinose apsolutno pozitivnoj slici kompletno ovde viđenog rada grupe. Album je u svakom slučaju da ponovim još jednom urađen od strane izuzetno iskusnih i kvalitetnih muzičara, za koje bez obzira koliko su ovde bili okrenuti tuđim pesmama, malo ima tajni u ovoj vrsti posla, a koje im nisu poznate.
