Certainly, one of the most significant German progressive bands in recent years is RPWL, an act that over 25 years of career has released 11 studio and 9 live albums. Although only two members from the original line-up remain in the group: Yogi Lang and Kalle Walner, it seems that the band’s sound has only gained additional value over the years, characterized by a different sophistication and quality.
Last year marked the 20th anniversary of their masterpiece release „World Through My Eyes, “ followed by a tour with somewhat expanded material and guests, who only confirmed the „elegance“ of the sound, the precision of the playing, and the unobtrusive colorfulness of the arrangements.
„Live…“ album was made as a double CD and double LP, featuring 18 songs, which the audience, wherever the band played, attentively followed and participated in the „silent“ reception of the message that the band delivered from the stage. It is particularly interesting how, in its own way, the band from the background, references certain phrases from the Genesis legacy, while the technical complexity and performance of the material, along with a rarely seen performance where no detail is skipped, remain a fascinating element.
RPWL is a band that relies largely on progressive trends from the 1970s, but they have expanded and refined this heritage, showing that the „rules“ and additional genre trends of newer times, pose no barrier to them. On the contrary, their unobtrusive yet convincing modern sound demonstrates the high musical and performance education of the band members. And may it continue to be so in the times to come.
Sigurno jedan od najznačajnijih nemačkih progressive sastava tokom poslednjih godina su RPWL, akt koji je tokom 25 godina karijere iza sebe ostavio 11 studijskih i 9 live albuma. Iako su iz originalne početne postave u grupi ostala samo dva člana : Yogi Lang i Kalle Walner, čini se da zvuk grupe tokom godina samo dobija na dodatnoj vrednosti, pdređenoj drugačikok sofisticiranosti i kvalitetu.
Prošle godine je bila 20-to godišnjica realizacije njihovog masterpiece izdanja „World Through My Eyes“, i usledila je turneja sa donekle proširenim materijalom i gostima, koji su samo potvrdili „eleganciju“ zvuka, sviračkupreciznost i nenametljivu aranžmansku koloritnost.
„Live…“ album je urađen kao dvostruki CD i dvostruki LP na kojem se našlo 18 songova, koje je publika gde je sastav svirao sa pažnjom pratila i učestvovala u „tihom“ prihvatanju poruke koje je sastav isporučivao sa bine.
Zanimljivo je naročito kako na svoj način sastav izvođački iz drugog plana citira određene fraze iz Genesis zaostavštine, pri čemu tehnička zahtevnost i izvođenje materijala uz retko viđeni performance, gde nijedan detalj nije preskočen, ostaju kao fascinantan element. RPWL su sastav koji se dobrim delom oslanja na progressive trendove iz 70-tih godina, ali koji je to nasleđe proširio i usavršio, pokazujući kako im „“zakonitosti“ i dodatni žanrovski trendovi novijeg vremena ne predstavljaju nikakvu barijeru. Čak šta više, njihov nenametljiv, ali ubedljiv moderan sound pokazuje visoko muzičko i izvođačko obrazovanje članova postave. I neka tako bude i u dolazećim vremenima.
