There is no doubt that Claire Hamill is an atypical person on the world and British music scene. This singer and songwriter, as well as her career, represent a true history of the British folk rock and progressive story in particular, whose course over the years has not followed usual paths, just like the continuity of her career, which has been guided typically by her life, producer-like, screenwriting, and directing forms.
Believe it or not, 55 years have passed since the release of her first album, which she released at an exceptionally young age. Her collaboration with numerous figures of the music scene at the time, as well as her career itself, did not follow any so-called ‘secondary plan,’ but it seems that her path was followed in a way that did not leave much space over the years to speak more about her overall legacy.
The current album on one hand follows the recognizable style to which she was loyal during the 1970s, but also a multitude of new, modern ideas, which show the acceptance of newer trends within the genres to which her approach had been recognizable over the years. On the album, alongside a group of indisputable professionals, guests include David Knopfler as well as Mark Abrahams, whose work is known from the later phases of his collaboration with the band Wishbone Ash. All the songs, a total of 12, except for two co-written with Sonny Flint, were penned by her alone. And, it’s also important to say, that the album has been created with the collaboration with band members : Sean Elliott – guitars; Sonny Flint – drums, percussion, keyboard, guitars, harmonica; John Nicholls – bass. Sonny Flint also recorded, arranged and mixed the album, and John Nicholls mastered the album.
The album is adorned with a richness of colors, a variety of ideas, and a colorful range of sound content, along with excellent arrangement solutions, complemented by expectedly convincing vocalization, which has always been her compelling quality.
This is an album where you will hear new sounds and ideas again, reminisce about earlier times, but also accept the fact that Claire Hamill perfectly embraces the standards of the present day.
Nema sumnje da je Claire Hamill netipična osoba na svetskoj i britanskoj muzičkoj sceni. Ova pevačica i autorka kao i njena karijera predstavljaju pravu istoriju naročito britanske folk rock i progressive priče, čiji tok tokom godina nije išao ubičajenim pravcima, kao i sam kontinuitet karijere, koji je vođen tipično njenim životnim, realizatorskim scenarističkim i režijskim formama.
Verovali ili ne, prošlo je 55 godina od objavljivanja njenog prvog albuma, kojeg je objavila u svojim izuzetno mladim godinama. Njena saradnja sa brojnim akterima tadašnje scene, kao i sama karijera, nisu išli ni iz kakvog tkzv. „drugog plana“, ali kao da je njen put bivao praćen na način koji nije ostavljao puno prostora da se tokom godina, više govori o njenom generalnom legacy-ju.
„A House Among The Trees“, dolazi nakon albuma „Troubadour“, na kojem se ona u potpunosti posvetila novom materijalu.
Aktuelni album sa jedne strane prati prepoznatljiv stil kojem je bila verna tokom 70-tih godina, ali i mnoštvo novih, modernih ideja, koji pokazuju prihvatanje novijih tendencija unutar žanrova kojima je tokom godina bio prepoznatljiv njen pristup. Na albumu pored grupe nesumnjivih profesionalaca , gostuju i David Knopfler, kao i Mark Abrahams, čiji je delovanje poznato iz kasnjih faza rada sa sastavom Wishbone Ash. Sve pesme, a ima ih ukupno 12, sem dve, gde je ko-autor Sonny Flint, je napisala sama.
Album krasi bogatstvo boja, koloritnih ideja i šarenolikih zvučnih sadržaja, te sjajnih aranžmanskih rešenja, uz očekivano ubedljivo vokaliziranje, koje je oduvek bilo njen ubedljivi kvalitet.
Ovo je album na kome ćete čuti iznova nove zvuke i ideje, podsetiti se starijih vremena, ali i prihvatiti činjenicu da Claire Hamill savršeno prihvata standarde sadašnjeg vremena.
