Lolly Lee is a person whose career we can divide into two phases. The first is when she performed in the bands The Mortals and Split The Dark, which left a certain mark on numerous colleagues and in a part of Alabama, and the period after the death of her husband. „Everything Spins,“ her current release, is her second solo work, which includes 12 songs, in which she is either the sole author or, to a lesser extent, a co-author.
With a larger team of collaborators, the album was created from sincere compositions that authentically explore: love, loss, humor, and the world around her.
The songs are done in a roots/Americana/rock style, and to a large extent, they recall some earlier periods, but at the same time coincide with the current moment. Some of the compositions are played at a faster pace, with a more pronounced rock drive, while others are lighter, in which the specific emotion of Lolly as an author and singer is more expressed. It should also be noted that the range of various vocal and instrumental-accompanying elements is very wide, which demonstrates her knowledge of the aforementioned forms, as well as considerable experience. Although each song is special in a certain way, the track that closes the album – „When I’m Gone“ – made an exceptional impression on me personally.
„Everything Spins“ is an album that may not have a specific composition that will stand out particularly, but it is rich in a wide range of creative touches, both vocally and instrumentally. This is indeed one of those albums for detailed listening and analysis… although, to be honest, you can certainly also relax while listening to the music present here.
Lolly Lee je osoba čiju karijeru možemo podeliti u dve faze.Prvu kada je nastupala u sastavima The Mortals i Split The Dark, koji su ostavili određenog traga kod brojnih kolega i u jednom delu Alabame, i period nakon smrti njenog muža. „Everything Spins“ njeno aktuelno izdanje je drugi po redu solo rad na kojem se našlo 12 songova, u kojima je ona ili kompletan autor , ili u manjem delu ko-autor.
Sa povećom ekipom saradnika urađen je album koji je sačinjen od iskrenih kompozicija, koje na autentičan način ispituju : ljubav, gubitke, humor, svet koji je okružuje. Pesme su urađene u roots/Americana/rock formi, i u dobroj meri podsećaju kako na neke ranije periode , ali isto tako koincidiraju sa sadašnjim tenutkom. Neke od kompozicija su odsvirane u bržem tempu, imaju izraženiji rock naboj, neke su laganije i u njima više do izraza dolazi specifična emocija Lolly kao autorke i pevačice.
Takođe treba istaći da je spektar različitih vokalnih i sviračko-pratećih elemenata vrlo širok, što pokazuje njeno poznavanje navedenih formi, ali i ne malo iskustvo. Iako je svaka pesma na određeni način posebna, na mene lično izuzetan utisak ostavila je numera koja zatvara album – „When I’m Gone“.
„Everything Spins“ je album koji možda ne poseduje odeđenu kompoziciju koja će se specijalno izdvojiti, ali obiluje širokim spektrom bogatih kreativnih zahvata, što u vokalnom, što u sviračkom smislu. Ovo jeste jedan od onih albuma za detaljno preslušavanje i analiziranje… mada da budem iskren sasvim sigurno možete i da se opustite preslušavajući ovde prisutnu muziku.
