Victoria Alexanyan is an artist with a wide range of interests and someone who approaches her work with great seriousness. She has an academic background, and besides music, her interests also extend into theater. I would like to say, that she’s an artist with solid experience, and the music she performs is filled with complex themes, offering a broader perspective on her roots, as well as the reality that surrounds her.
The album “Vishap,” which features 10 tracks, was recorded with a band whose members also played an important creative role in shaping the songs. On one hand, Victoria turns inward, exploring her “inner self,” while on the other, her views reach toward the political realities affecting Armenia. Musically, the album blends intricate world music tendencies with jazz influences, along with subtle progressive details woven throughout, leaving plenty of room for folk and ethno exploration.
All in all, this latest album offers plenty of challenge, both for the musicians involved, and for the listener. Even if Victoria’s message may not feel immediately close or familiar to everyone, it’s hard to remain indifferent in the face of such thoughtfully crafted music and expressive ideas.
Victoria Alexanyan je umetnica sa širokim poljem intersovanja i osoba koja svojim delima pristupa veoma ozbiljno. Alademski je obrazovana, a pored muzike njena intersovanja takođe dodiruju i teatar. Može se reći da je umetnica sa primerenim iskustvom, a muzika koju izvodi obiluje kompleksnim temama, kao i jednim širim pogledom na njene korene, kao i realnost koja ju okružuje. „Vishap“ album sa 10 numera, je urađen sa bendom, čiji su članovi takođe imali važnu kreativnu ulogu pri realizaciji pesama. Victoria je sa jedne strane okrenuta svom „unutrašnjem ja“, a sa druge njeni pogledi se kreću ka političkoj realnosti koje zahvataju Jermeniju. Sama muzika predstavlja kombinaciju složenih world music tendencija, jazz influenci, dodatih i skrivenih progressive detalja, gde ima puno prostora za folk i ethno istraživanja. Sve u svemu, aktuelno albumsko ostvarenje nudi puno izazova, što za same aktere, tako i slušaoca, kojima možda poruka Victorie Alexanyan nije toliko bliska, ali pred postavljenom muzikom i izražajnim idejama teško da mogu ostati ravnodušni.
