Reggae/roots/dub/instrumental – SERBIA/AUSTRIA

Hannes „Paba“ Kerschner (truba)
Claus Teufel (saksofon)
Franz Polak (trombon)
Christoph Richter (klavijature)
Manfred Scheer (bas)
Herb Pirker (gitara)
Parvez Syed (klavijature, gitare)
English version :
The activities of Nemanja Kojić, a.k.a. Horsman Coyote, have been truly impressive in recent year, if not for a couple of decades, as has his collaboration with numerous musicians from both Serbia and abroad. His international career is undeniably remarkable, and it is a fact that from season to season it continues to grow and expand, along with his discography. Reggae is not merely one of the forms to which this singer and multi-instrumentalist, most often present on stage and in the studio with his trombone, is constantly active and devoted. Hardcore and various crossover styles are also among the indispensable forms in which his knowledge and skill are continuously reaffirmed.
„Madman Slide“ is a release that, in addition to its digital format, is also available on vinyl, featuring ten instrumental tracks (the digital version is enriched with one additional track titled “Rebel Hammer”). The album was created in collaboration with Austrian musicians, the group, label, and studio „House of Riddim“, while the very idea for the realization of the material came from its conceptual initiator Sam Gilly himself, a multi-instrumentalist. The following contributors also took part in the album:
-
Hannes “Paba” Kerschner (trumpet)
-
Claus Teufel (saxophone)
-
Franz Polak (trombone)
-
Christoph Richter (keyboards)
-
Manfred Scheer (bass)
-
Herb Pirker (guitar)
-
Parvez Syed (keyboards, guitars)
„Madman Slide“ is one of those colorful and musically rich releases in which the past and the present intersect, and where, through an instrumental prism, various roots and dub variants are explored. Naturally, all of this is executed in a production wise contemporary manner, as much as possible. Improvisations combined with inspired arrangements are plentiful, while a very spontaneous yet organically constructed atmosphere allows the listener to drift into a state of “daydreaming” and unburdened reflection that lasts practically from the first to the final bar.
From an authorial and creative standpoint, this joint achievement by Nemanja Kojić and his Austrian collaborators is yet another release with which few within the local or international reggae community, especially those oriented toward these particular forms, could be dissatisfied. On the contrary, in creative terms the participants have done their part convincingly, powerfully, creatively, and with great inspiration.
