Barry Oreck is known New York, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter, who also has another artistic career. His following band, with exceptional musicians, has respectable experience, and „We Were Wood“ is Barry’s fifth album, where we can find 10 songs.

We can face it with storytelling songs about nature, love, also songs about politics and American history. „We Were Wood“ is an album that combines folk and Americana elements,  and with songs done in mid, rarely mid-up tempo, with well-controlled singing and certain playing by band members. It seems that Barry and his team have devoted maximum energy to the precision and meticulousness of each composition, to a certain hierarchy, to have a narrative dimension, and a precise message. Maybe without, in my opinion, the necessary performing energy and more performing mobility, which represents a slight deficiency, all the other things are realized creatively and engagingly.

I would not single out any particular song, and the fact is that the prepared material works as a whole. „We Were Wood“ also belongs to that group of releases that you simply must listen to multiple times to more fully appreciate the message of Mr. Oreck and his team.
