(Heavy Rhythm & Roll Records/LOUDHER PR) 2025.

Various genres – AUSTRIA
Jussel is a relatively new band from Vienna, Austria, which released its debut album titled ‘This Town’ at the end of September 2025. They got their name from the main songwriter and singer, Tobias Jussel, and the album features 11 songs.
Judging by their press material, the music itself should represent a combination of several genre idioms, some of which, it seems to me, would hardly be able to stand in a list like space rock or gospel. However, the noticeable influences of music from the 1970s and 1960s of the previous century are evident, and in that sense, I suppose the band did what they wanted. Their music possesses noticeable emotions; the songs are „calm“, done at a medium tempo, with unobtrusive but cleverly arranged solutions, accompanied by vocal melodies and the musicianship of the band members. There are many so-called retro moments present, and the fact is that nowadays such albums are mostly recorded and produced to a lesser extent. The fact remains, however, that Jussel has demonstrated certain aspects of persistence and unconventional performance solutions, showing that their approach, considering both the better and the less good sides, is still authentic enough.
