Mr. Erik Palmberg is a Swedish trumpeter/composer, based in Stockholm, who is during the previous several years deserves recognition in national area and also in international. Together with his band, he has released with actual one, 3 albums : “First Lines” (2018.), “In Between” (2021.), and current “Faces”, where we can find 10 instrumental tracks.
Mr. Palmberg is well-educated musician, as same as all of his mates from band. He is also well-accepted in Germany, where he held several concerts.
“Faces” as an album, is “immersed” in the tradition of classical jazz on the one hand, or better to say in jazz with traditional “faces”, where influences of contemporary tendencies are present both in the way he and his colleagues play music, and in the way arrangement solutions are treated. The great musical knowledge of Palmberg and his collaborators make the material present here enjoyable to listen to, even relaxing, but it is clear that each composition has been precisely processed and played with a refined style and approach.
Palmberg’s trumpet playing is intelligent, no less imaginative and quite sophisticated, just like the music arranged here, which confirms the performance skills and knowledge of all the actors.
